Covid-19 Updates

March 27, 2020

RE:  COVID-19 updates

Dear CFAC Members,

CFAC entered a demand to bargain and we are pleased to report

we signed off on the first MOU

yesterday, March 26th. Both parties made a commitment to negotiating daily and getting this completed as quickly as possible. The purpose of the negotiations is to define a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will address the current changes. It will lay out expectations and protections as we wade into unknown waters. We will also provide for addressing future changes that may arise going forward in the next round of negotiations. The MOU is not intended for courses that are currently running as online courses.  We began negotiating today for Phase 2 MOU. This will address issues of additional compensation, faculty development funds, additional health and safety and return to normal operations. Below is a joint statement from the Union and the College and the details of the MOU. We thank our departments reps for their input and availability.

Joint statement to the MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU)

COVID-19 PANDEMIC PHASE 1

The parties acknowledge their commitment to the mission of the college and the indispensable role that part-time faculty play in fulfilling that mission, and the commitment that the part-time faculty have to serving the students at the college.  Neither party is attempting to use the COVID 19 pandemic as a way to leverage any advantage.  This MOU helps to provide the security, protection and resources to help ensure that our students receive the instruction needed to advance in their program.
